Grades:

Please check your student’s grades on Tiger View frequently. I will update grades 1-2 times per week. Please reach out to me if there is any concern or questions. Grades are weighted as followed:

Tests - 35%

Quizzes - 30%

Homework - 25%

In Class Assignments - 10%

Math Warm Ups:

Students will be provided a weekly math warm up worksheet. They are responsible for entering the room quietly and begin the warm up problems without being told! These worksheets will be collected at the end of each week for points. These points will fall under the “In-Class Assignments” grade category.

Homework Policy:

It is my expectation that homework be completely in its entirety. To master the skills we learned in class, students will have homework almost every day.

  • Assignments will be posted on my website daily as well as on the classroom whiteboard.

  • I will try my best to give students about 10 minutes at the end of each class to start homework.

  • Homework assignments will be given points based on completion most of the time. To earn the completion grade, student must show work and try each problem!!!

  • Any homework not turned in at the beginning of class is considered late. Late homework is worth 50% credit.

    • First Semester- I will accept any late work for 50% credit until test day for that unit. The assignment must be fully completely.

    • Second Semester – No late work will be accepted and a zero will be given for the grade.

Homework Grades:

Homework must be completed in its entirety to receive full credit; 10 out of 10 points. This includes that EVERY problem is ATTEMPTED and SHOW WORK for EVERY problem. If a homework assignment is turned in on time, but not complete the student will at most receive a 7 out of 10 once the assignment is completed and turned back in.    Students must turn in a COMPLETE assignment in order to receive a grade.

  • After going over the warm up, students will self-grade their homework. This must be done in a colored pen. I will record each student’s number of missed problems to help me further understand their individual progress.

  • At this time students are free to ask me questions or explanations for any problems. I strongly encourage students ask questions about problems they missed or uncertain about the concept to get clarification.

Quizzes:

Each unit will have 1-3 quizzes to check for student understanding of the concepts. All quizzes, except for vocabulary quizzes, will be OPEN NOTE. Students are expected to be taking organized notes during every class. Everything that I write on the whiteboard should be written down by the students in their notes along with any additional notes they feel are necessary for their understanding of the lesson. All quizzes will be announced in advance.

Tests:

Students will take a test at the end of each unit as well as the end of each quarter. A review sheet will be given for all unit tests and semester exams. Students will not receive a study guide for the 1st and 3rd Quarter Assessments as these tests are comprised of problems from previous unit tests. Hence, students need to retain all unit tests to help review concepts and skills.
